Beetroot is an amazing root vegetable that has numerous health giving properites, its distinctive ruby red colour is due to its betalain pigments, such as betanin and betacyanin. It is a powerful blood purifier and detoxifier rich in immunity boosting nutrients.
It is a member of the sea beet family (that grows on the Mediterranean coast). Thought to be first used by the Romans it is documented that it was utilised by French chefs in the 18th century.

Snacking doesn’t have to be unhealthy. For a low calorie snack, roast chicken drumsticks, let them cool and store them in the fridge. That way you can always have a healthy snack thats packed full or protein that can be easily carried with you. (lunch boxes etc.)
Remember to take off the skin first though

With a little thought and the right ingredients in your fridge you can whip up a great dinner in a matter of minutes that is both nutritious and extremely tasty.
